Arthur N. Langhaus, Senior Managing Director
Prior to founding KLS in 1989, Mr. Langhaus spent two years as an Investment Banker and Vice President in the Asset Management Group at Shearson Lehman Brothers. Prior to 1987, Mr. Langhaus was Senior Tax Manager with the international accounting firm of Touche Ross specializing in the areas of individual taxation, corporate taxation and tax-oriented investments. Mr. Langhaus was Chairman of the Tax Oriented Investment Committee of Touche Ross’ New York office. He received his B.A. degree from Queens College, City University of New York in 1978 and an M.B.A. degree with high honors from Pace University Graduate School of Business in 1980. He is a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Langhaus is a Senior Managing Director and member of the Investment Committee of KLS.
Robert M. Schorr, Member of the Investment Committee
Prior to founding KLS in 1989, Mr. Schorr spent five years as an Investment Banker in the Asset Management, Private Client and Corporate Finance Groups at Shearson Lehman Brothers, rising to the position of Senior Vice President. Prior to 1984, Mr. Schorr was a Senior Tax Manager with Touche Ross specializing in the areas of individual taxation, estate planning, and mergers and acquisitions. He received his B.B.A. degree from Adelphi University in 1975, a J.D. degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law in 1978, and an LL.M. (advanced degree in taxation) from New York University in 1981. From 1982 to 1984 Mr. Schorr was a member of the faculty lecturing in Federal income taxation at the New York University Graduate School of Business. He is a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Schorr retired as a Senior Managing Director and Co-Chair of the Investment Committee of KLS as of December 31, 2018 but remains a member of the Investment Committee, at the discretion of the company, through December 31, 2019.
Alan J. Brod, Senior Managing Director
Mr. Brod joined KLS in May 1991, after spending five years as a First Vice President in the Capital Preservation and Restructuring Group at Shearson Lehman Brothers. Prior to 1987, he spent nine years as a Tax Manager at Touche Ross specializing in the areas of individual and corporate taxation. He received his B.S. degree from New York University in 1975, his J.D. degree from University of Miami Law School in 1978, and his LL.M. from New York University in 1982. Mr. Brod is a Senior Managing Director and member of the Investment Committee of KLS.
Gary P. Sica, Senior Managing Director
Mr. Sica joined KLS in December 2005 after working at Wealth and Tax Advisory Services, Inc. as an experienced Tax Manager advising high net worth individuals and families on income and estate tax matters. Prior to 2002, he spent four years at Arthur Andersen, LLP, rising to the position of Tax Manager in the private client group. Mr. Sica received his B.A. degree from Villanova University in 1994, his J.D. degree from Villanova University School of Law in 1998, and his LL.M. in taxation from New York University School of Law in 2005. Mr. Sica is a Senior Managing Director, Chief Investment Officer and Chair of the Investment Committee.
Georgia Pangle, Senior Managing Director
Ms. Pangle joined KLS in August 1990 after spending five years in the telecommunications industry, rising to Senior National Account Manager responsible for sales and network planning for major U.S. and European financial institutions. Ms. Pangle has been instrumental in creating and implementing business development programs and client communication initiatives at KLS and is responsible for the training and management of the business development group. She attended New York University Tisch School of the Arts and received her B.A. degree from The New School. Ms. Pangle is a Senior Managing Director and non-voting member of the Investment Committee of KLS.
Michael T. McCarville, Managing Director
Mr. McCarville joined KLS in June 2009 after working at Goldman Sachs as a Senior Financial Analyst advising Goldman partners on their personal tax and financial matters. Prior to 2007, he spent 5 years at Wealth and Tax Advisory Services, Inc., rising to the position of Tax Manager, advising high net worth individuals and families on income and estate tax matters. Mr. McCarville received his B.A. degree from Binghamton University in 1997 and his J.D. degree from St. John’s University School of Law in 2001.
David A. Paley, Managing Director
Prior to joining KLS in February 2016, Mr. Paley spent 22 years in the Capital Markets divisions of major financial institutions leading teams that advised high net worth and institutional clients on investment, risk management and financing related issues. He was most recently a Managing Director at BNP Paribas and, prior to then, a Managing Director at Deutsche Bank, and a Director at Citigroup. Mr. Paley received a B.A. degree in Economics from the University of Michigan and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Paley is a Managing Director and the Deputy Chief Investment Officer.
Wade Canter, Managing Director
Prior to joining KLS in September 2016, Mr. Canter was an Executive Director at the J.P. Morgan Private Bank, where he spent five years as an Investment Specialist in the Law Firm Group. For the two years prior, he worked as a Financial Advisor at Bernstein Global Wealth Management. Previous to advising high net worth individuals and families, Mr. Canter spent nine years in investment banking. He served as a Director specializing in equity-linked securities at Barclays Capital and Wachovia Securities and as a Vice President in the Global Industrials Group at Citi. He began his career as a corporate tax attorney, practicing for two years at Shearman & Sterling. Mr. Canter received an A.B. from Duke University in 1993, a J.D. with a Concentration in Taxation from the University of California Hastings College of the Law in 1997 and an LL.M. in Taxation from the New York University School of Law in 1998.
Susan Matlow, Managing Director
Prior to joining KLS in July 2013, Susan was a private client advisor at a boutique wealth management firm in New York, advising individuals on comprehensive wealth management matters. She began her career as an associate with Arnold & Porter in Washington, D.C. and subsequently was a tax counsel at Exxon Mobil Corporation and American Express Company. Susan received her B.S. degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1988 and her J.D. degree from The Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1991 and is a Certified Financial Planner™ professional.
Amanda D. Dekki, Managing Director
Prior to joining KLS in January 2011, Ms. Dekki spent seven years working at Berdon LLP rising to the position of Manager, advising high net worth families and financial entities on their tax and financial matters. She received her B.A. degree with honors from St. John’s University in 2000, her J.D. degree from St. John’s University School of Law in 2003, and her LL.M. degree at New York University School of Law in January 2012. Ms. Dekki is a KLS Managing Director responsible for client account management.
Mark Bricker, Managing Director
Mr. Bricker joined KLS in January 2001 after working at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as a SeniorTax Advisor in the Financial Industry Service Group where he advised banks and investment partnerships on tax matters. Prior to 1996, he worked at Deloitte & Touche LLP as a tax associate in their Multinational Corporate Tax Group. Mr. Bricker graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. degree in Accounting from SUNY Albany in 1991 and received his J.D. degree from New York University School of Law in 1994. Mr. Bricker has risen to the level of Managing Director and serves as the head of the trusts and estates practice.
Tara Carley, Director of Client Services
Ms. Carley joined KLS in May 2006 after three years at Bear Stearns supporting Managing Directors in the Private Wealth Management Group. Ms. Carley is responsible for the training and management of the associate, portfolio accounting, and account administration groups. She also acts as a primary advisor on client accounts. Ms. Carley received her B.A. degree from the College of the Holy Cross in 2003.
Maritza A. Chow Young, Director
Ms. Chow Young joined KLS in April 2001 after working for four years with the Blank Financial Group. She received her B.A. from Trinity College in 1997. Ms. Chow Young has received numerous promotions during her tenure at KLS, rising to the level of Director. Ms. Chow Young is responsible for client account management.
Joseph W. Callaway, Jr., Director
Mr. Callaway joined KLS in August of 2004 after working at The Bank of New York as a Trust Officer in the firm’s Structured Finance Group. He was a lead relationship manager to various mortgage-backed security issuers and was responsible for various corporate trustee matters. Prior to working at The Bank of New York, he was an Associate at Wilmington Trust Company within their Bankruptcy/Default Group, also assisting on various corporate trustee matters. Mr. Callaway received his B.B.A. in Finance from Radford University and his M.B.A. from the Lubin School of Business at Pace University.
Patrick D. Wren, Director
Mr. Wren joined KLS in March 2006 after working at Ayco Company, L.P. (a Goldman Sachs company) as Project Manager and financial planner advising individuals on investments, retirement and estate planning, taxation and insurance matters. He received his B.S. in Finance from Siena College and his M.B.A. from Binghamton University. Mr. Wren has received numerous promotions during his tenure at KLS, rising to the level of Director responsible for client account management.
Tara D. Vagnone, Associate Director
Tara Vagnone joined KLS Professional Advisors in 2016 after working at Brown Brothers Harriman for over 18 years rising to the position of Vice President in their Private Banking division. She was responsible for providing advice to ultra-high net worth clients including retired executives, private business owners, as well as BBH partners on complex investment, wealth transfer, tax and sustainable spending strategies.
Mrs. Vagnone received her B.S. in Mathematics from Fairfield University in 1997 and her M.B.A. from Fordham University in 2006 majoring in Finance, Taxation/Accounting.
Andrew Hoercher, Associate Director
Mr. Hoercher joined KLS as an Associate in 2012 after working at UBS Wealth Management as a Client Service Representative in the firm’s Equity Plan Advisory Group. Mr. Hoercher received his B.A. in Economics from St. Lawrence University and his M.B.A. from the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University with a concentration in Finance.
Robert Sherman, Associate Director
Mr. Sherman joined KLS in October 2018 after working at Gerstein Fisher as a Client Advisor - Senior Tax Specialist, advising high net worth individuals on financial matters with a focus towards tax planning. Prior to 2015, he spent three years at Ernst & Young rising to the position of Tax Senior Associate in the Private Client Services practice.
Mr. Sherman received his B.S. degree from the State University of New York at Albany in 2010 and his Masters in Taxation from Hofstra University in 2012. He is a Certified Public Accountant with the Personal Financial Specialist advanced credential and is a Certified Financial Planner™ professional.
Matthew Regan, Associate Director
Mr. Regan joined KLS as an Associate Director in September 2018 after working for eight years at Richardson Kontogouris Emerson LLP, rising to the position of Tax Manager. Mr. Regan advised high net worth individuals and flow-through entities on their tax and financial matters.
Mr. Regan received his B.S. in Accounting from Loyola Marymount University in 2010 and is a Certified Public Accountant by the California Board of Accountancy.
Sean Casey, Chief Compliance Officer
Mr. Casey joined KLS in February 2017 as Chief Compliance Officer. Mr. Casey has over 20 years of experience focusing on regulatory compliance at some of the world’s leading financial organizations. His diverse experience includes legal, compliance, and internal audit roles at a number of high profile firms, including Guggenheim Partners, Man Group, Brown Brothers Harriman, and Merrill Lynch. Business areas include Investment Management, Mutual Funds, Alternative Investments, Banking, Markets, Custody and Transfer Agency. Sean is a graduate of New York Law School and is an attorney admitted to the state bars of New York and Connecticut.
